The White House announced that President Trump would be taking his annual physical exam next month.
Dr. Sean Barbabella, who Mr. Trump appointed as his personal physician earlier this week, said the president is expected to complete the routine physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center next month.
The White House has not released the exact date. Dr. Barbabella said the date would be “released publicly in the next few weeks.”
The forthcoming physical is Mr. Trump’s first since returning to the White House and comes after much of his presidential campaign was dominated with questions about age and health, first for former President Joseph R. Biden and then for him.
Mr. Trump was the oldest person ever at 78 years and 7 months to be inaugurated for president. He repeatedly vowed for months to release the details of his latest checkup during his campaign but never did.
His most recent medical update came in November 2023, when Mr. Trump posted a letter from Dr. Bruce Aronwald, who said that the president’s “overall health is excellent,” and his “physical exams were well within the normal range and his cognitive exams were exceptional.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who was also under pressure to release a health update, eventually unveiled her medical report less than a month before Election Day and used it to push Mr. Trump to do the same.
The president survived a gunshot wound to the ear during an assassination attempt in June, but the only updates released following the incident were from Rep. Ronny Jackson, Texas Republican, that outlined the nature of the wound and broadly detailed that Mr. Trump was recovering well.
The most detailed report of Mr. Trump’s medical records came in 2018 from his first physical examination, also conducted by Mr. Jackson, who at the time was serving as the White House physician, found that the president had high cholesterol, a high body mass index and rosacea.
Mr. Trump’s final physical exam in the White House was released in 2020 and found that while he had gained some weight, his cholesterol levels had improved.
