Mick Mulvaney, former director of the Office of Management and Budget, said President Trump’s federal aid freeze will likely end up at the Supreme Court.

NewsNation and The Hill quizzed Mr. Mulvaney, who led the OMB and served as Mr. Trump’s chief of staff during his first administration, about where the federal aid freeze ends, given it’s already in the courts.

“In this building across the street. Not the one with the dome, but the one with the fancy columns in front — this goes to the Supreme Court,” Mr. Mulvaney said.

The new acting director of OMB under Mr. Trump directed agencies this week to freeze disbursements of federal assistance so they could be reviewed under the new administration.

A judge, though, halted the pause on Tuesday.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, defended the stoppage.

“It is a temporary pause, and the Office of Management and Budget is reviewing the federal funding that has been going out the door,” she said.
