President Trump took aim at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for saying his strikes on Iran are grounds for impeachment.
“Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ’dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment, despite the fact that the Crooked and Corrupt Democrats have already done that twice before,” Mr. Trump wrote on social media Tuesday.
“The reason for her ’rantings’ is all of the Victories that the U.S.A. has had under the Trump Administration,” he said. “The Democrats aren’t used to WINNING, and she can’t stand the concept of our Country being successful again.”
He said Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, New York Democrat and member of the far-left Squad, is not qualified for her position, but still superior to fellow Democratic Reps. Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
“How dare ’The Mouse’ tells us how to run the United States of America!” the president said before turning to rant about former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris. “We’re just now coming back from that Radical Left experiment with Sleepy Joe, Kamala, and ’THE AUTOPEN,’ in charge. What a disaster it was!”
He said Ms. Ocasio-Cortez should be forced to take a cognitive test, like the one he took this year and “aced.”
“Instead of her constant complaining, Alexandria should go back home to Queens, where I was also brought up, and straighten out her filthy, disgusting, crime ridden streets, in the District she ’represents,’ and which she never goes to anymore,” he posted.
“She better start worrying about her own Primary, before she thinks about beating our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, whose career is definitely on very thin ice!” he said of the Senate minority leader, also of New York. “She and her Democrat friends have just hit the Lowest Poll Numbers in Congressional History, so go ahead and try Impeaching me, again, MAKE MY DAY!”
Ms. Ocasio-Cortez floated the idea of what would be Mr. Trump’s third impeachment on Saturday after he announced the U.S. bombed three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities.
“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” she wrote. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”
She hit back at his post on Tuesday, mocking him and saying he broke promises.
“Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me — I’m just a silly girl. Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war,” she wrote on social media. “It only took you 5 months to break almost every promise you made.”
Other Democrats joined Ms. Ocasio-Cortez in saying Mr. Trump’s actions were an impeachable offense but didn’t spark Mr. Trump’s ire enough for a mention in the post.
Rep. Sean Casten, Illinois Democrat, said on Saturday, “This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program.”
“No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress,” he posted. “This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.”
He acknowledged that Democrats may not have enough votes to impeach Mr. Trump, but that “you DO NOT do this without Congressional approval.”
Republicans have defended the president against the calls for impeachment.
“For my colleagues that are now demanding impeachment, it is absolutely absurd,” Rep. Mike Lawler, New York Republican, said on “Fox & Friends” Sunday. “[Former President] Barack Obama attacked Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen during his tenure, and never once did they call for impeachment. So, these folks are truly reaching new levels of Trump derangement in the aftermath of yesterday’s decision.”
