Hunter Biden is temporarily suspended from practicing law in Connecticut and a group that filed an ethics complaint against him is questioning why he hasn’t voluntarily withdrawn his membership as he did earlier this week in Washington.
Last year, the Center for American Rights filed a complaint against Mr. Biden in 2024 with the Connecticut Attorney Grievance Committee.
A spokesperson from the Grievance Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Mr. Biden’s license in Connecticut has been temporarily suspended since 2021 over failing to pay a $75 annual fee for lawyers. He had been admitted to practice law in Connecticut since 1997.
“Mr. Biden’s disbarment in D.C. is yet further proof why the Connecticut disciplinary committee needs to address his clear violations of the standards of professional conduct,” said Daniel Suhr, president of the Center for American Rights.
The group’s 2024 ethics complaint is similar to the disciplinary proceedings Mr. Biden faced in Washington, which focused on his recent criminal convictions.

In one criminal dispute, Mr. Biden, who is the son of the former president, was found guilty of lying on a background check form about his drug use when purchasing a firearm and in the other dispute, he pleaded guilty to charges related to tax evasion.
President Biden pardoned his son before leaving office.
Earlier this week, Mr. Biden voluntarily gave up his D.C. law license, avoiding disciplinary proceedings. He had a D.C. law license since 2007.
