Homeland Security said Monday that it is pouring new resources into a tip line for Americans to report activity by illegal immigrants, in the wake of the attack on a pro-Israel demonstration in Colorado that’s being blamed on an illegal immigrant.

The tip line, 866-DHS-2-ICE, is to be used for what the department called “suspicious criminal activity by illegal aliens including terrorist activity, gang related crimes, and suspected sex trafficking.”

“[Sunday’s] terrorist attack by a suspect illegally in our country, underscores the importance of getting these illegal aliens out of our country,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary at Homeland Security.

She said callers can “help President Trump, Secretary [Kristi] Noem and our brave law enforcement remove these public safety threats from our communities and to make America safe again.”

The tip line has been around for more than a decade, but the department said Ms. Noem has directed more people be available to pursue reports.

The announcement came after Sunday’s attack in Boulder, Colorado, where a man tossed firebombs at demonstrators calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. The man shouted “Free Palestine!” as he threw the Molotov cocktails, according to the FBI.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian man the government said is an illegal immigrant who came to the U.S. on a short-term visa but overstayed, has been charged.

He told investigators he lived in Colorado Springs with his wife and five children, had been planning the attack for a year and timed it to after his daughter’s graduation.
